Connecting a new application to a legacy-based application can be a huge challenge for even the most sophisticated IT department. Take MEDITECH's MAGIC application as an example. While there are multiple solutions that read directly from the MEDITECH database, none of them are permitted to write directly to it. MEDITECH MAGIC). Orders can now be entered automatically for laboratory, microbiology and blood bank tests. Once the results are avail abel they are retrieved from the legacy application and returned to the EMR.

No HL7? No Problem
Blue Iris Connect is unique in being able to communicate between standard legacy-based applications - without HL7 interfaces - and physician EMR systems that only support HL7. This native support for legacy-based applications is distinct from other products that require expensive and time consuming HL7 interfaces to be retro-fitted. Blue Iris Connect is also unique in operating in real-time, as opposed to the awkward store-and-forward method offered by other vendors.
In addition, Blue Iris Connect's direct access method for legacy-based applications protects the integrity of data by passing it in-and-out of the application through approved interfaces, rather than via 3rd party add-ons. This means that Blue Iris Connect maintains the integrity of native legacy-based application business logic because it passes all data through these trusted filters - other solutions often enter via the back door which bypasses and compromises these rules.
